Shuven Glow | Skin, Hair & Gut Health Support
Shuven Glow | Skin, Hair & Gut Health Support
Radiance Built From the Inside Out
Skin nutrition where every amount means something. Shuven™ Glow works on the three things that actually determine how skin looks from the inside — hydration, barrier integrity, and the cofactors collagen synthesis depends on — using hyaluronic acid at its exact clinical dose, rice-derived ceramides, astaxanthin, and the vitamin C, copper, zinc, and silica your body requires to build and cross-link collagen. Fully vegan, fully dose-disclosed, and built for an 8 to 12 week window because that's how long the research took to measure changes.
What It Supports
- Skin hydration and elasticity — the exact 120 mg hyaluronic acid dose used in published research
- Healthy skin barrier function — rice-derived ceramides supporting the skin's own lipid barrier
- Collagen formation — vitamin C, copper, zinc, and silica, the cofactors the enzymes require
- Antioxidant defense — astaxanthin and CoQ10 ubiquinol against everyday oxidative stress
- Skin, hair, and nail structure — biotin and silica for keratin and connective tissue
Who Glow Is For
Glow is built for people who have spent real money on serums and creams and want to work on skin from the nutritional side instead. It suits anyone who wants a vegan alternative to marine or bovine collagen, anyone noticing changes in hydration or firmness after their mid-twenties, and anyone already working on gut health who wants their skin routine running on the same foundation. If you want to understand the connection first, our guide to how gut health shapes skin health covers the mechanism in depth.
Ingredients (Per Serving)
Hyaluronic Acid (Low Molecular Weight Sodium Hyaluronate) — 120 mg
Your skin's own moisture-binding molecule, which declines with age, and the anchor of this formula. In a 12-week double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 40 adults aged 35 to 64, 120 mg of oral hyaluronic acid daily significantly improved wrinkle assessment, stratum corneum water content, transepidermal water loss, and elasticity against placebo. Glow uses that exact 120 mg in a low-molecular-weight form.
One caveat we'd rather raise ourselves: much of the oral hyaluronic acid research has been conducted with the involvement of the companies that manufacture the ingredient. The findings replicate across several independent trials, but industry involvement is worth knowing when you read any supplement's headline study, including ours.
Bamboo Silica Extract (70% organic silica) — 300 mg
One of the richest plant sources of silica, the trace mineral involved in collagen cross-linking, hair strength, and connective-tissue integrity. Silica is absent from a surprising number of skin formulas entirely. There is no established clinical dose for silica in skin specifically, so we include it at a meaningful, fully disclosed amount rather than claiming a benchmark that doesn't exist.
Vitamin C (from Acerola Cherry Extract, standardized to 25%) — 250 mg
Not an add-on — the cofactor without which collagen synthesis physically cannot complete. A systematic review in the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine describes vitamin C's role as the required cofactor for prolyl hydroxylase and lysyl hydroxylase, the enzymes that hydroxylate proline and lysine residues and allow the collagen triple-helix to fold into a stable structure. That review examined musculoskeletal healing rather than skin, but the enzyme chemistry is the same in both tissues.
This is the ingredient that made us rethink the whole formula. Collagen synthesis in someone eating adequate protein is rarely limited by amino acid supply — it's limited by the cofactors. Sourced from acerola cherry, which supplies naturally occurring bioflavonoids alongside the ascorbic acid.
CoQ10 (Ubiquinol Form) — 100 mg
The already-reduced, more bioavailable form of CoQ10, not ubiquinone. CoQ10 supports mitochondrial energy production in skin cells, and tissue levels decline measurably with age. It contributes a second layer of antioxidant defense alongside the astaxanthin. Human research on CoQ10 specifically for skin appearance is limited, and it's included here for its established mitochondrial and antioxidant role rather than on the strength of skin trials.
Rice-Derived Phytoceramides (Oryza Ceramide-PCD) — 40 mg
A vegan ceramide that supports the skin's lipid barrier from the inside — the layer that determines how much water your skin holds onto rather than loses. Rice-derived ceramides have been studied for hydration and barrier function, and unlike wheat-derived ceramides they are gluten-free and non-GMO. 40 mg is the supplier's standard studied use level.
Zinc Picolinate — 15 mg
A highly bioavailable form of zinc supporting skin clarity and normal skin-renewal processes. Zinc is also a structural cofactor in several enzymes involved in tissue repair. 15 mg is a standard supplemental level, not a megadose — and the copper below is here specifically because of it.
Astaxanthin (AstaPure, fermentation-derived) — 12 mg
One of the most studied antioxidants for skin. A systematic review and meta-analysis in Nutrients found that oral astaxanthin significantly improved skin moisture content and elasticity versus placebo across randomized trials.
Two things that review also found, which most labels omit: wrinkle depth did not reach statistical significance, and a separate 2022 review concluded the evidence for astaxanthin on skin moisturization was insufficient. The literature is genuinely mixed. Individual trials used daily doses from roughly 4 mg upward; ours is 12 mg, at the upper end of that range.
Biotin — 2,500 mcg
A B-vitamin involved in keratin production, the structural protein in skin, hair, and nails. Biotin deficiency produces brittle nails and hair thinning; supplementation in someone already replete does considerably less than the category implies. Please see the note at the bottom of this page regarding biotin and laboratory testing — this one genuinely matters.
Copper Bisglycinate — 1 mg
The cofactor most beauty formulas leave out, and the second reason this formula works the way it does. Copper is required for lysyl oxidase, the enzyme that cross-links collagen and elastin into mature, load-bearing structure — without it you can synthesize collagen that never properly matures. Zinc supplementation over time can also reduce copper status, so including it at a sensible ratio to the zinc alongside it is a formulation requirement, not a bonus.
What's Actually in the Bottle
Most beauty supplements either hide their amounts inside a proprietary blend or print a long ingredient list without telling you which amounts mean anything. We do neither. Below is every ingredient, its exact amount, and an honest read on how that amount compares to the research.
| Ingredient | Per serving | Role | Dose vs. research |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hyaluronic Acid (LMW) | 120 mg | Hydration and elasticity | Matches the 120 mg clinical dose exactly |
| Vitamin C (Acerola, 25%) | 250 mg | Required cofactor for collagen synthesis | Ample for the cofactor role |
| CoQ10 (Ubiquinol) | 100 mg | Mitochondrial and antioxidant support | Within studied range |
| Astaxanthin (AstaPure) | 12 mg | Antioxidant; moisture and elasticity | Upper end of studied range; evidence mixed |
| Zinc Picolinate | 15 mg | Skin clarity and renewal | Standard supplemental level |
| Copper Bisglycinate | 1 mg | Lysyl oxidase cofactor; collagen cross-linking | Balanced against the zinc |
| Rice Phytoceramides | 40 mg | Skin barrier lipids | Supplier's standard studied use level |
| Bamboo Silica (70% silica) | 300 mg | Cross-linking, hair and connective tissue | No established clinical dose for skin |
| Biotin | 2,500 mcg | Keratin production | Well above RDA; see lab-test note below |
The honest picture: every ingredient in this formula is at a clinical dose, within a studied range, or at a standard supplemental level. There is nothing here included at a fraction of what the research used. Hyaluronic acid matches its trial dose exactly. Silica is the one ingredient with no benchmark to compare against, because none exists for skin — and we say that rather than inventing one. Every number is printed plainly so you can judge it yourself, which is more than a proprietary blend will ever let you do.
Why We Removed the Amino Acids
Glow used to contain 2,500 mg of lysine, proline, and glycine — the amino acids collagen is built from. We took them out, and it's worth explaining why rather than quietly changing the label.
Collagen synthesis in someone eating adequate protein is not usually limited by amino acid supply. Lysine and proline are abundant in an ordinary diet, and deficiency is rare outside genuine malnutrition. What synthesis is commonly limited by are the cofactors: vitamin C insufficiency is genuinely widespread, and copper status is rarely assessed at all. Without vitamin C, prolyl and lysyl hydroxylase cannot function and the collagen your body assembles is structurally unstable. Without copper, lysyl oxidase cannot cross-link it into mature tissue.
Adding more of an abundant substrate does little. Supplying the cofactor that's actually scarce does more. Removing 2,500 mg of low-value bulk also means everything left on this label fits comfortably in three capsules — nothing had to be cut short to make room for filler.
The Shuven Standard
- Every dose disclosed — no proprietary blends, no hidden amounts, no "radiance complex"
- Nothing underdosed — every ingredient at a clinical dose, within a studied range, or at a standard supplemental level
- Cofactor-complete — vitamin C, copper, zinc, and silica together, not vitamin C alone
- Fully vegan — no marine collagen, no bovine collagen, no animal ingredients
- Third-party tested before it ships — every production batch independently tested for identity, potency, and purity
Glow pairs naturally with Shuven Reset for the absorption side of the equation, or with Shuven Sleep for the overnight window when skin repair actually happens.
Why Topical Skincare Isn't Enough
Most people spend hundreds on serums and creams that work on the top layer of skin. But skin is built from the inside. Every collagen fiber, every hydration molecule, every ceramide in the barrier is assembled from nutrients absorbed through your gut. After roughly age 25 collagen production begins a slow annual decline, and without the cofactors that drive synthesis, topical products have limited material to work with underneath. We covered this in our article on why a skincare routine alone often stalls out.
Absorption is the other half of it, and it's why this is a Shuven product. Every ingredient in Glow has to cross the gut wall before it reaches skin. Hyaluronic acid, astaxanthin, CoQ10, zinc, copper — all of them depend on a digestive system that's actually absorbing. If the gut lining is compromised or digestion is struggling, the building blocks never arrive, and the most well-dosed skin formula in the world does nothing.
That's a more honest version of the skin-gut connection than adding a token amount of fiber to a beauty capsule. If you want the mechanism in full, our deep dive on the skin-gut axis covers how the two systems talk to each other, and the gut lining and absorption formula is what we'd pair it with.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long until I see results?
Research on skin hydration and elasticity generally measures changes over 8 to 12 weeks of consistent daily use, and the hyaluronic acid trial saw its first significant differences at week 8. Give it a full 12 weeks before judging it, and take it every day in that window. Individual results vary.
Why did you remove the amino acids?
Because they weren't doing much. Collagen synthesis in someone eating adequate protein is rarely limited by lysine or proline supply — it's limited by cofactors like vitamin C and copper, which are far more commonly insufficient. The aminos were also occupying 2,500 mg of capsule space for very little return. Removing them means every remaining ingredient sits at an amount we can point to research for.
How does this compare to marine or bovine collagen supplements?
They're solving different parts of the problem, and we're no longer pretending to be a collagen product. Animal collagen supplements deliver pre-formed peptides. Glow supplies the hydration, barrier lipids, and enzymatic cofactors that determine what your body does with the collagen it makes. If you want collagen peptides, buy collagen peptides — and if you do, Glow complements them rather than competing, because peptides without vitamin C and copper are substrate without machinery.
Is there any collagen in this formula?
No. Glow is fully vegan with no animal-derived ingredients. An earlier version of this formula did contain marine collagen; it was removed when we reformulated Glow as a fully vegan product, and nothing animal-derived has replaced it.
Is it gluten-free?
Yes. Glow uses rice-derived phytoceramides rather than wheat-derived ceramides, and the formula is vegan and non-GMO.
Do I need to take it with food?
Yes — with a meal containing some healthy fat. Astaxanthin and CoQ10 are both fat-soluble and absorb considerably better alongside dietary fat. Breakfast or lunch works well for most people.
Can I take it with my other Shuven products?
Yes. Glow is fully stackable with Reset, Focus, Bloat, Morning, and Sleep. Pairing it with the Reset foundation formula makes the most sense, since Reset works on the absorption side that everything in Glow depends on.
Is it gentle on sensitive stomachs?
Generally, yes — and gentler than the previous version, which contained several grams of free amino acids. Taking it with food helps. If you have a diagnosed digestive condition, check with your healthcare provider first.
How is this different from a multivitamin?
A multivitamin provides broad baseline nutrition at low doses. Glow is targeted and dosed — hyaluronic acid at its exact trial amount, astaxanthin at the upper end of its studied range, copper matched to the zinc. A multivitamin's zinc is there for general nutrition. Glow's is there with copper alongside it for a specific reason.
Trust & Quality
- Third-party tested before it ships — every production batch independently tested for identity, potency, and purity
- Fully vegan and non-GMO — no animal-derived ingredients
- No fillers, dyes, or artificial additives
- Made in the USA — in a facility operating under current Good Manufacturing Practices
How to Use
Take 3 capsules daily with a meal containing some healthy fat, which helps absorption of the fat-soluble nutrients. Use consistently for 8 to 12 weeks, since changes in skin hydration and elasticity accumulate gradually rather than appearing in the first few days. Subscribing saves 20% on every order and is the simplest way to stay consistent through a full 12-week cycle. You can cancel any time.
Ready to work on your skin from the inside out? Add Glow to your routine, give it the 8 to 12 weeks it needs, and consider pairing it with the Reset gut foundation formula for the absorption base underneath it.
Important Note
These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Individual results may vary. Consult your healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or managing a health condition.
Biotin and laboratory tests: this product contains 2,500 mcg of biotin. Biotin can interfere with certain laboratory tests, including some thyroid panels and cardiac troponin assays, and may cause falsely high or falsely low results. Tell your healthcare provider and laboratory staff that you take a biotin-containing supplement before any blood work, and follow their guidance on whether to pause it beforehand.
Zinc and copper: this product contains 15 mg of zinc and 1 mg of copper. If you take other supplements containing zinc, check your combined total — sustained high zinc intake can reduce copper status. Speak with your healthcare provider if you take zinc from more than one source.
