Shuven Morning | Daily Energy & Digestive Support
Shuven Morning | Daily Energy & Digestive Support
Gut-Friendly Energy to Start Your Day
Steady energy, without borrowing against the afternoon. Shuven™ Morning is built around adaptogens and the B-vitamin cofactors your body actually uses to release energy from food — no caffeine, no synthetic stimulants, nothing that forces the system and hands you the bill at 10 a.m. Cordyceps and maca carry the traditional energy side, panax ginseng and rhodiola help the body adapt to demand, and methylated B12 and B6 sit underneath as the metabolic machinery. Every amount printed plainly, with an honest read on each one.
What It Supports
- Natural morning energy and stamina — without borrowing against the afternoon
- Stress resilience and mental stamina — two standardized adaptogens at their studied doses
- Normal energy-yielding metabolism — methylated B12 and active B6 as the required cofactors
- Cortisol rhythm support — working with the curve rather than overriding it
- A steadier gut-brain morning rhythm
Who Morning Is For
Morning suits people who want to reduce their coffee dependence without quitting outright, anyone who wakes up tired regardless of how long they slept, and anyone whose energy dips hard by mid-morning. It's caffeine-free by design, so it stacks with coffee rather than competing with it — which is the point, because going cold turkey on caffeine is how most people abandon the attempt. If persistent fatigue is your main issue, our article on why tiredness persists even after a full night's sleep is worth reading first.
Ingredients (Per Serving)
Cordyceps Extract (CS-4) — 750 mg
A functional mushroom with long traditional use for energy and stamina, and the ingredient here we're least certain about. The human evidence genuinely cuts both ways: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in healthy older adults found improvements in maximum oxygen uptake and anaerobic threshold after six weeks, while a controlled trial in 22 endurance-trained cyclists found no effect on aerobic capacity or endurance performance at all.
Both used 3 g daily. Ours is 750 mg, included as a traditional-use ingredient rather than a replication of those doses. Three grams of cordyceps is five capsules on its own, which is the honest reason it isn't higher.
Panax Ginseng Extract (5% ginsenosides) — 300 mg
A traditional adaptogen for stamina and mental endurance, and better supported at this amount than most people realize. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial in 30 healthy adults, standardized ginseng extract significantly reduced subjective mental fatigue and improved performance on demanding arithmetic tasks across a sustained cognitive workload. That research used 200 and 400 mg; our 300 mg sits squarely inside the studied range.
Rhodiola Rosea (3% rosavins, 1% salidroside) — 300 mg
The adaptogenic backbone of the formula, standardized on both marker compounds rather than just rosavins. A systematic review of randomized trials found three of five mental-fatigue trials reporting benefit, while concluding the overall evidence is contradictory and that the included studies carried meaningful risk of bias. We think that's worth knowing rather than quoting only the three that worked. At 300 mg, Morning sits inside the studied range.
Maca Root Extract (4:1) — 400 mg
Traditionally used to support energy and endurance, adding a steady physical foundation underneath the cognitive ingredients. A 4:1 concentration means 400 mg here is equivalent to roughly 1,600 mg of raw root — which puts it inside the range traditional preparations use, unlike the 200 mg of raw powder that appears on a lot of labels. There is no established clinical dose for maca in energy specifically, and it's included on traditional grounds.
Methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12) — 500 mcg
The active, methylated form of B12, not cyanocobalamin. B12 is a required cofactor in the pathways that convert food into usable cellular energy, which is why deficiency produces fatigue that no amount of sleep resolves.
Here's the part energy supplements don't say: B vitamins don't create energy. They're required for the machinery that releases it from food. If your levels are already adequate, more won't do much. That's precisely why we include B12 and B6 at sensible amounts rather than the 4,000%-of-RDA megadoses that dominate the category — those numbers look impressive on a label and do nothing extra in a replete body.
Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (Vitamin B6) — 10 mg
The active coenzyme form of B6, which doesn't require conversion in the liver. B6 is a cofactor in amino acid metabolism and in the synthesis of several neurotransmitters, including the catecholamines behind drive and alertness. Same caveat as B12: it's the machinery, not the fuel.
Black Pepper Extract (BioPerine) — 5 mg
Included at the standard 5 mg to support absorption of the other ingredients. We make no numerical claim about how much it improves uptake of anything specific here, because that varies by compound and hasn't been measured for this formula.
What's Actually in the Bottle
Most energy supplements either lean on caffeine or hide their amounts inside a proprietary blend. We do neither. Below is every ingredient, its exact amount, and an honest read on whether that amount matches what the research used.
| Ingredient | Per serving | Role | Dose vs. research |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panax Ginseng (5% ginsenosides) | 300 mg | Mental fatigue and stamina | Inside the studied 200–400 mg range |
| Rhodiola Rosea (3% rosavins) | 300 mg | Adaptogenic backbone | Within studied range; evidence itself is mixed |
| Maca Root (4:1 extract) | 400 mg | Traditional energy and endurance | ≈1,600 mg raw equivalent — within traditional range |
| Methylcobalamin (B12) | 500 mcg | Energy metabolism cofactor | Well above RDA; standard supplemental level |
| Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (B6) | 10 mg | Amino acid and neurotransmitter cofactor | Standard supplemental level |
| Black Pepper (BioPerine) | 5 mg | Absorption support | Standard use level |
| Cordyceps Extract (CS-4) | 750 mg | Traditional energy and stamina | Below the 3 g trial dose; evidence mixed |
The honest picture: six of the seven ingredients here sit at a studied dose, within a studied range, or at a standard supplemental level. Cordyceps is the one genuine gap, and it's a gap nobody selling capsules can close — 3 g is five capsules of cordyceps alone. What sets Morning apart isn't a mega-dose of any single thing. It's a caffeine-free combination that supports your body's own energy systems rather than borrowing against them, with every amount printed so you can judge it yourself.

Pair Morning with Shuven Reset for full-day gut and stress support, with Shuven Focus when you need deeper cognitive performance, or with Shuven Sleep to balance daytime energy against nighttime recovery. Our complete guide to the gut-brain axis explains why the gut sits underneath all of it.
Why Coffee Isn't Cutting It
Most mornings start with coffee and end with a crash by 10 a.m. Caffeine doesn't create energy. It blocks adenosine, the molecule that signals tiredness, while nudging cortisol upward and taxing your gut along the way. The energy is borrowed, and the bill comes due fast — which is why the third cup does less than the first.
The deeper issue is usually some combination of a dysregulated cortisol rhythm, tired mitochondria, and a stressed gut-brain axis. A 2021 review in Gastroenterology describes how signalling between the gut and brain shapes arousal, mood, and the stress response — the reason a rough gut week and a flat, foggy week so often arrive together. When your cortisol rhythm is off, you can wake up exhausted no matter how long you slept.
Morning doesn't override that system with stimulants. It supports the underlying pathways so your body can produce steadier energy on its own. If mental fog is part of your mornings, our guide to clearing brain fog naturally covers the cognitive side, our overview of stress and cortisol explains the rhythm piece, and our deep dive on energy and digestion covers how the two connect.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it contain caffeine?
No caffeine and no synthetic stimulants. Morning works through adaptogens and metabolic cofactors that support your body's own energy production, so there are no jitters and no crash on the back end.
Will I feel it right away?
Some people notice steadier energy within the first several days. The adaptogenic side builds with daily use over two to four weeks, and the B vitamins do nothing dramatic in the short term unless you were running low. Individual results vary.
Can I take it with coffee?
Yes, and that's how most people use it. Morning is caffeine-free, so there's no stacking of stimulants — many people use it to gradually reduce coffee dependence rather than quitting cold turkey, which almost never sticks.
Why aren't all the doses at research levels?
Most of them are. Ginseng, rhodiola, and maca all sit within their studied ranges, and the B vitamins are at standard supplemental levels. Cordyceps is the exception, and we'd rather tell you than bury it: the trials used 3 g, which is five capsules of cordyceps by itself. Compare that to any proprietary blend on the shelf next to us, where you can't check at all.
Can I take it with the other Shuven formulas?
Yes, it's fully stackable. A common pattern is Morning to start the day, the Reset foundation formula with meals, Focus during deep work, and Sleep before bed. One overlap worth knowing: Focus also contains rhodiola, so running both means a higher combined daily amount. That falls within commonly used ranges, but you should know it rather than discover it.
What's the difference between Morning and Focus?
Morning is about energy and stamina — getting the day started without caffeine. Focus is about concentration and cognitive performance for a specific block of demanding work. They overlap on rhodiola and they're built for different jobs. If you only want one and your problem is waking up flat, take Morning.
Why methylcobalamin instead of regular B12?
Methylcobalamin is the active form the body uses directly. Cyanocobalamin, the cheaper and more common form, requires conversion first. The same logic applies to the P-5-P form of B6, which skips the liver conversion step that pyridoxine HCl requires. Both cost more. Both are the right call.
Is it safe to take every day?
The formula is built for daily use and nothing in it is known to build tolerance or cause dependency. That said, ginseng and rhodiola both carry medication interactions — please read the note at the bottom of this page before starting if you take anything regularly.

How to Use
Take 3 capsules in the morning, with or without food, or as directed by your healthcare professional. Use consistently for two to four weeks to let the adaptogenic side settle into a pattern — this isn't an ingredient set that announces itself on day one. Subscribing saves 20% on every order and is the simplest way to stay consistent through that window. You can cancel any time.
Ready to wake up steady instead of wired? Add Morning to your routine for caffeine-free energy, and consider pairing it with the Reset gut foundation formula for the base underneath it.
